Our Primary Mission to the Community

As part of our commitment to our neighbors, Brighton Volunteer Ambulance provides Emergency Medical Services, training in CPR/AED and acts as a resource for information and materials for those who are sick or injured.

Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support is the backbone for all operations. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and Certified First Responders (CFR's) staff our 3 ambulances and provide all necessary tasks to safely transport a sick or injured person to the hospital and provide care along the way. The care that Basic Life Support providers give to patients can be as critical as Defibrillation or CPR, or as simple as bandaging a cut or splinting a broken arm.

Advanced Life Support

Advanced Life Support (ALS) technicians fall into four categories: Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate, Critical Care Technician and Paramedic and Critical Transport Paramedic. The last three are able to provide the level of care one would find in an emergency room at the hospital. BVA has both career and volunteer ALS technicians who use gear located on our ambulances as well as a "fly-car." The Ford Expedition we use as a fly-car is designed to carry medical equipment such as a heart monitor, IV supplies and medicine. ALS technicians provide emergency care for the seriously ill patients in a Pre-hospital setting.

Mutual Aid

In order to provide better ambulance coverage for the town of Brighton, BVA works with other ambulance services to provide coverage in our town, if we are unable to respond to a call.  The 911 Center will automatically dispatch the closest appropriate agency.  Brighton Volunteer Ambulance works closely with the following agencies:

Henrietta Volunteer Ambulance
Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance
Penfield Volunteer Ambulance
Rural/Metro Medical Services
Monroe Ambulance
